Eco Central - Christchurch

GPF awarded Christchurch-based EcoCentral $37,500 to help with a trial to collect colour-sorted glass separately to other recyclables so it’s of high enough quality to be recycled into new containers in Auckland. 

EcoCentral have partnered with fellow glass recyclers 5R Solutions to enable the transportation of the glass via 5R’s Christchurch hub to Auckland.

Waitaki Resource Recovery Trust

The Waitaki Resource Recovery Trust was awarded a $38,500 grant to upgrade their storage capacity, enabling better transport options for freight. Glass from the Trust is sent to 5R's hub in Christchurch for processing before being sent to Auckland for recycling.
