Glass Packaging Forum Recently Awarded Grants

Kaikoura

Innovative Waste Kaikoura were awarded $20,000 to help build storage which will allow glass from the district to be recycled for the first time.

The new infrastructure will allow colour-sorted glass to be transported to the 5R Solutions hub in Christchurch, aggregated with other glass and sent to the furnace in Auckland.

Central Otago

The Central Otago District Council was awarded $1,200 to expand the successful extra glass collections in Clyde and include nearby Naseby.

The GPF had previously funded wheelie bins to collect glass during the busy summer period in Clyde, keeping 1.4 tonnes of glass from landfill in 2022. The latest funding will mean an expected doubling of this recovery.
